What a journey and where did the last 2 years go? Yes, the Polis & Latchi Lions were initially formed in July 2021. We never dreamed that as a club and a group of people, we could have come so far in such a short time!
Building on our first year, our second year has been even more eventful. In May we undertook our second trip to the wonderful island of Crete to play our friends the “Titans of Crete”. This year we were accompanied on the plane with our Cyprus neighbours the “Aphrodite Wanderers.”
The men’s competitions comprised of a Round Robin event in which our men’s team faired very well indeed. The competition was eventually won by the “Titans” who played exceptionally well throughout. Our mixed team of Men & Women never lost a game and came out winners of their tournament. Many thanks must go to our friend Frode (The manager of the Titans) for running the tournament so well, making it a tremendous success. In conclusion a wonderful trip was had by all and what another great experience.
This year we are proud to announce that we have a new sponsor in A20 Real Estate in Latchi. Their sponsorship enabled us to purchase our second kit and we thank them so much for their continued support.
This year has seen the inaugural event of the Ladies Buchannan Cup held at the Paphos United ground with teams from Cyprus and the UK taking part. Our Polis & Latchi Lions ladies excelled in the challenge of competing in their very first tournament, enjoying every minute of their games.
The men’s team has also been busy this year playing games against visiting teams from the UK namely “Thames” & “Colchester” in addition to games against our local neighbors “Aphrodite Wanderers” and “ENAD”.
On Sunday 15th October 2023 we will be holding an Open Day Event commencing at 12 Noon till 3PM. The event will be held at the Propilea Sports Centre, Polis, just off the B7. The Event will be sponsored by A20 Real Estate who will be in attendance. Our very own lady player Aurica together with her staff will be there to help you with any questions or queries you may have with regards to buying or selling properties locally or within Cyprus.
Everyone is welcome to come and join us on the day. You can watch our demonstration game or even partake if you wish. To qualify Men, need to be 50 or over and Ladies, 40 or over.
On the day we will have complimentary Hotdogs, Chips & Ice Creams. Entrance is free and a free raffle will be held.
