Paphos Running Club: Everything but the Kitchen Sink!!

To say we have had a busy month would be a gross understatement! For example: Podium success in the Activate Cyprus International Triathlon; Couch to 5kms Graduation Run; Participation in the London Marathon; An Ultramarathon win in Athens; Xterra off-road Triathlon success in Malta; Scottish National Swimming Championships (8 medals!), and all this as well as our usual Paphos Park Run, season-long Points Competition, and a packed schedule of activities every day of the week!

If you would like to be involved in any of our wide range of activities – Running-Biking-Swimming-Hiking – see contacts list below.

Couch to 5km Graduation
The recent Sole Sisters 9-week “Couch to 5kms” programme completed on 15th May with the traditional 5km “Carrot Cake Run”, in which those who have participated get to run 5kms non-stop! Rumours that they only do it to get a slice of the Carrot Cake are well founded!

These graduation runs are always well attended by club members offering encouragement and moral support, so 20 or 30 participants is usual.

PRC Wheelnutters Adventure Rides
The Wheelnutters group (you would understand the name if you met them!), are primarily a group of novice cyclists on a mission to ride to the top of Mount Olympus.

As usual in PRC, the more experienced club members provide coaching and guidance, so recent tough rides to Kathikas, Kouklia, Pissouri, Akoursos and Kidares are building riders’ strength and stamina.

Scottish National Swimming Champion
One of our extraordinarily gifted swimmers, Martin Hodge, despite nursing a recurrent shoulder injury this season, repeated his success of last year and again came home with 8 medals, including 4 Golds.

Paphos International Triathlon 30th April
Today, for the 5th consecutive year we were very successful in this high-profile International event, with several podium places for solo competitors, and by coming first and second in the mixed team category.

After a stormy few days, the sea was still quite rough so the swim was very challenging, and the rising temperatures also took their toll in the final run.

Paphos Park Run 7th May
Continued roadworks required us to move the Paphos Park Run route yet again, so we were very pleased with a good turnout, especially as the new route was well liked by the runners themselves, which is not surprising because 25% of them achieved Personal Bests.
