Now the heat is subsiding and those who escaped to cooler climes return, we are into the swing of our Points Competition (7th October),Triathlon Training Programme (21st October), and the autumn racing programme of triathlons, trail-runs and 4-day challenges, so look out for our Fluorescent-Yellow tops!
Sole Sisters
Throughout the summer Sole Sisters have been researching new routes for our morning runs/walks.
There are hills involved (mostly upwards it seems!), but as Paphos is on the slopes of Mount Olympus, we embrace them with gusto, cheering each other on until we reach the peak! Sounds absolutely idyllic doesn’t it! (Who writes this stuff?).
Our Couch to 5k programme started on Monday 25 September. This is a very gentle build-up exercise programme on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, open to both men and women, any age and any fitness level.

Great North Run 10th September ’23
This is the World’s biggest half marathon with 60,000 runners, and was also the final race for the great Sir Mo Farah, 4th behind Ethiopian winner Tamirat Tola who recorded 59m:58s, and the associated Red Arrows display enhanced the sense of occasion this Newcastle to South Shields race has established since its inception 40 years ago.
Some local runners struggled in the 22°C heat, and it was tougher than Peter Portnoi had expected, with inclines towards the end taking their toll, but he was satisfied with his time of 2 hours 7 minutes. Yvonne Kerrigan recorded an impressive personal best, just seconds outside 2 hours and first-timer Suzanne Smith beat 3 hours.
Octoberfest
Look out for these annual Sole Sisters initiatives because being in aid of a very good cause, they are always well attended.
