October News From Paphos International Sailing Club
Pirates were out in force at PISC’s ‘Talk Like A Pirate’ fun night at our Clubhouse at Peyeia. Parrots & pieces of eight were much in evidence along with a few tots of rum to splice the mainbrace. OldPlay also performed on our Clubhouse reopening night which was a great event along with our new members BBQ for those who have joined us over the last twelve months.
PISC is not just about sailing, we have some great social events as well for our members.
September has come & gone, the temperature decreasing making it much more comfortable to sail. Sailing has continued throughout the summer at Agios Georgios with members competing in both the Monthly Series & Summer Series racing events with some thrilling close calls at the finish.
In the ‘Sail Ionian Yacht Charters’ Summer Series Tony Edwards retains the lead, Peter Wade remains in second place but the third position has now changed with Graham Flint & Lindy Andersen coming up to challenge. Results in next month’s issue.
The ‘H2Owen August Monthly Series’ was won by Zbig Wender in his Laser named Lavender with Graham Flint & Lindy Andersen in second place, Mick Dent taking the third spot.
The ‘ Letymbou Taverna September Monthly Series’ is now underway with Richard Wheeler in the lead, closely followed by Graham Flint & Zbig Wender.
Our two ‘Learn To Sail’ training courses in October are now fully subscribed. So, if you would like to learn to sail in a friendly safe environment, take a look at our web site for further details or come down & see us at Agios Georgios on a Thursday or Saturday morning.
Our Autumn Regatta is upon us, 5th & 6th October at Agios Georgois, it will be a great event with many different classes of boats taking part so come on down and watch the action.
Coming up in October we have a sailing presentation on 1st October, a bingo night on the 8th, Spanish Tapas Night on the 15th, quiz night on the 22nd with a Halloween Party on the 2nd November.
