Even though conditions for playing walking football remain tough through August, it is good see new faces turning up. This is a game for more senior folk, so all men over 50 and women over 40 are very welcome to join. Of course there is no upper age limit. We continue with four sessions a week at the AM Fair Game Centre, Tremithousa.
The thrill of playing football is the teamwork that produces goals. Making a pass that splits the opposition and your teammate hits the back of the net. The skill of your goalkeeper flying across the goal or saving a penalty. All of this is also available in our slower game of walking football. It might be called “walking”, but there is still enough scope to move quickly, burn a lot of energy, and give your old body a good work out.
Like any sport, if you just turn up and play you might cause a bit of damage to old, wiry muscles and tendons. So prepare yourself at home with being fully hydrated and stretch those hamstrings, calves, and thigh muscles.
So come and see us on a Monday and Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. or Tuesday and Friday mornings at 8 a.m.
This month we congratulate, from our Super 70’s side, Mr. Nicos Antoniades for being awarded August Player of the Month. Nicos is a great example of everything iterated above. He is playing football now at almost all of our sessions. Always giving his best and always passing on his experience to others.
