Traditionally, the early part of the year is fairly quiet in terms of racing activities, so that is when we have our Gala Wards Dinner and also elect a new committee at the AGM.
That all sounds rather boring doesn’t it? Well, let me tell you it isn’t, as you can perhaps deduce from this photo taken at the awards dinner?
The dinner at the Frog and Toad went on into the early hours of the morning with an impromptu talent contest, whereas a week later the AGM barely lasted 30 minutes! It is all about having the right priorities isn’t it?
Points Series Competition
The revised format for 2023 follows our “Run-Bike-Swim-Hike” ethos as it incorporates all activities into a single, year-long competition, which by its design, can be won by anyone of any ability doing whichever activity they choose, whenever they choose, at whatever speed they choose.
Paphos Triathlon 30th April
Our monthly Triathlon Training from Corallia has also resumed and we are building up to enter several strong teams and individual contenders at all distances in the International Triathlon in Paphos at the end of April.
Sole Sisters: Couch to 5km starts 13th March
Our Sisters of Sole have progressed dramatically over the last 12 months, with several ladies tackling 10km races and even half marathons such as the forthcoming Logicom Marathon races taking place on 12th March from Paphos harbour.
Why not come down and get inspired to join our 9-week Couch to 5km fitness improvement programme which starts the very next day?
To register, simply contact our President Sue Cordrey (see contact details below).
Paphos Park Runs
5th February Result
Despite stiff breezes and lowering skies which threatened rain, thirty hardy souls lined up for our first event of 2023. Local man Aleksandr Berezhnoy led from the start to take a comfortable two-minute win from UK visitors Molly and Dean Ralphson of Barlick Fell Runners.
Despite the testing conditions, Thecla Strydom excelled herself with a Personal Best of 23m:33s and Lisa Gwynne was 10% clear of her nearest rival in the age-related competition. PRC took five age group wins, four of which went to our ladies.
5th March
Our 5km Park Runs will continue at 8am on the first Sunday in every month, but due to construction work along the harbour and coastal path, they will start near the harbour taxi rank, then run parallel with Poseidonos Avenue instead of towards Lighthouse Beach.
