Paphos International Sailing Cub – December 2023

The exceptionally good weather during the month provided superb sailing at Agios Georgios for members of Paphos International Sailing Club (PISC). According to Rear Commodore (Sailing), John Huggett, as many as 17 boats took to the sea every Thursday and Saturday. There were two sailing competitions: a quarterly competition which is ongoing and a monthly competition. The Monthly Mug sailing competition was won by Lyuba & Vadim Pankratov. Barbara Jones and Robin Marsh are leading in the Autumn Series.

Once again there were many well-attended events at the Clubhouse which is located between Coral Bay and Sea Caves. We received an extraordinary request from a young German sailor, 13 year-old Emma Seegart who wanted to take part in the German Championships – Open Skiff Class. To do so she had to be a member of an International Sailing Club, so she asked if PISC could help. We were happy to oblige and Emma represented PISC and Cyprus in the Championships held at Alster Lake, Hamburg at the start of October, with thirty other youngsters taking part. Well done Emma.
