With the increasing temperatures over the past few weeks it has been decided that for the summer months our sessions will consist of three touch football. This helps to ensure that players do not become too exhausted. However some players still favour the normal walking football format without the restriction and our committee is considering a limited number of those sessions for the more adventurous.
Our priority this month is arranging an Open Day to attract Women footballers. We are fortunate to gain the sponsorship of Chase Buchanan in supporting the event. The three clubs on the island from Paphos. Polis and Aphrodite Hills have come together to organise an introduction to walking football for women from 30 to 80 plus. The day will consist of explanation of the laws, keep fit exercises, basic work with the ball and a gentle game. Previous experience is not necessary. The event takes place on 3 July from 10am at the Fairgame Sports Centre Tremathusia. Further information from Evie on 99 758320. Refreshments will be available on the day.
At the recent AGM a vote was taken for the most improved player of the year. It was fitting the award went to one of our women players Mandy Berry. When she joined us, Mandy had never kicked a ball but through determination she has deservedly won the award. The photo shows Mandy presented with the award by Chief Coach Graham Ward.
We are still active off the field and over 50 members and guests recently enjoyed a fun quiz at the Sugar Taverna in Peyia.
