Coronavirus: Fifty-one new cases

The health ministry on Wednesday announced 51 new coronavirus cases, the third highest number since March.

The cases were detected after 2,291 tests carried out in the past 24 hours. The total number of cases since March has reached 2,181.

Health authorities said they were still processing the figures and would have more details about individual cases on Thursday.

Four people are currently being treated at Famagusta hospital and two more at Nicosia general hospital’s ICU.

Two more were receiving treatment at other state hospitals.

Wednesday’s cases were the third highest recorded since March. On Tuesday, Cyprus saw a staggering 83 cases, which broke the record of 58 on April 1.

Turkish Cypriot authorities announced three cases on Wednesday.
