We celebrated SEA SUNDAY during our Sunday service on 9th July.
Rev John Atkinson from the Mission to Seafarers talked about the work that is done , not just here in Limassol but throughout the world to make sure the crews aboard the ships that come into port are cared for both physically and spiritually giving them help and guidance wherever and whenever possible. Supported by a group of volunteers, there is nearly always someone to reach out a helping hand, offer advice or just listen. Next month we shall start collecting items to go in gift boxes, these will wrapped and given out on the ships during the Christmas season. If you would like to donate items for this very worthwhile cause please contact Rev John or Christine Taylor at St Barnabas’ Church.
The next Tabletop Sales will be on Saturday 2nd September, 7th October, 4th November and 2nd December. The cost is €12.50 for a pitch, the length of one long table. A limited number of tables are available for hire at an additional cost of €5 per table. These must be pre-booked. Remember you are helping the environment by recycling things rather than consigning them to a landfill site. Buyers – you can pick up bargains. Previous items for sale have included art, baby items, books, bric-a-brac, DVDs, household goods, jewellery, small collectible antiques, good quality new and second-hand clothing, handmade crafts, pre-loved treasures, toys, yummy home baking and much more besides.
Looking Ahead – Harvest Festival will be celebrated on 15th October followed by a Bring & Share lunch in the chaplaincy garden.
Cans for Kids – As you enjoy all those cold summer drinks please remember to save the cans and put them in the cage inside the front gate.
St Lazarus Church will be having two services a month during the summer months, on the 2nd and 4th Sundays in the room under the amphitheatre in Pissouri at 6.00pm.
