174 new cases announced on Tuesday

Announcement of the Ministry of Health regarding new cases of COVID-19 disease

The Ministry of Health informs that, according to information received today by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit from contracting laboratories, out of a total of 4,033 laboratory diagnoses, 174 new cases of COVID-19 were identified.

In detail, the current cases emerged as follows:

  • Out of 635 samples taken through the process of tracking the contacts of already confirmed cases, 75 cases were identified.
  • Out of 1,679 privately initiated samples, 75 cases were identified.
  • From 238 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 5 cases were identified.
  • Out of 1,042 samples taken as part of the passenger and repatriate control, 9 cases were identified.
  • Out of 280 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Doctors and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics, 8 cases were identified.
  • From 64 samples taken under the control program of students, teachers and school staff, 2 cases were identified.

In addition, 95 samples were taken as part of the sampling carried out by the KOP in Associations participating in its events, without the detection of a case.

Therefore, based on the data so far, the total number of cases is 4,934.



In addition, the Famagusta General Hospital treats 27 people positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, four of whom are in the Intensive Care Unit. In addition, at the Nicosia General Hospital, five patients are still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit, while another ten people are being treated in a COVID-19 ward.
