The Department of Meteorology have issued a Yellow Warning for thunderstorms overnight. The warning is in place from 6pm on Saturday 22nd January until 5am on Sunday 23rd January.
Isolated heavy thunderstorms are expected to affect mainly the western half of island and southern areas. Rain rates are expected to range between 35 and 50 millimeters per hour.
Advice is to be aware that thunderstorms may occur. Take extra care in exposed areas, like mountains, forest and open terrain. Disruption to outdoor activities is possible.
