Wildcats Roar To Life In Debut Tournament With Strong Defense And Standout Performances

The Paphos Wildcats made an exciting debut in round one of the ISX Financial Women Cyprus Championship 24-25 on 9th November, facing tough competition against the Limassol Sirens and Akrotiri Flamingos/Larnaca Spartans teams. Playing four fiercely contested games, the Wildcats managed to secure their first victory, showcasing their impressive defensive skills and scoring some incredible tries. The team’s spirit and determination shone throughout the tournament, making a strong impression on both opponents and fans.

Standout player Milla Giannakopolous was awarded “Player of the Tournament” by game officials for her tenacious play and leadership on the field, while the Wildcats’ coach, Erik Wewetzer, recognised Bell Tiechmann as “Wildcat of the Day” for her exceptional commitment and performance.

The Paphos Tigers RFC family welcomes new players across all age groups. The Paphos Tigers cater to men aged 18 and above, while the Paphos Colts are open to boys aged 12-18. Girls aged 12 and up are encouraged to join the Wildcats, where they can develop their skills in a supportive team environment. Younger rugby enthusiasts, aged 6-11, can join the Paphos Cubs for a fun introduction to the sport. Interested players and parents are encouraged to reach out, as the Wildcats and other Paphos teams continue to grow the sport and community.
