Tim Says ‘All Together Now -1, 2, 3’

Who doesn’t love a good tune? Tim Rice (not that one!), Musical Director of the Paphos Zingers, certainly does. That’s why, when the former MD left, Tim took over the reins of the choir. And it has certainly been a successful relationship – he loves the choir and the choir loves him.

For those new to Paphos it might be necessary to explain that the Zingers are a Rock Choir, who rehearse every week and perform every month or so. They have two aims – to have fun and to raise money for the Cancer Patients Support Group. To get a group of up to 35 bathroom warblers to the point that they can perform to an audience takes a lot of work and an inspiring leader.

Tim has been that leader for just over two years now and in that time has overseen great developments, both in the quality of the singing and in the general health of the choir. A resident of Paphos for 9 years, after a successful career as a languages teacher in the UK and education manager in Egypt, Tim has taken his role with the Zingers very seriously, expanding the repertoire and ensuring through rigorous but enjoyable (he says) rehearsals that the choir is worth hearing for its music and not just for its charity work. If you want to hear the results for yourself book a ticket for the next concert at Gabriel’s in Kouklia on September 13th.

But Tim is not finished with his plans for the Zingers. ‘As a choir we enjoy ourselves. You can see it when we perform. We want to make sure that the audience members enjoy themselves as well. The better we sing and the larger our repertoire is the more the audience should enjoy our performances.’

Helping people fighting illness, rocking along with the choir, maybe even having a dance. What could be better?
