The Paphos Classic Vehicle Club

We have had a busy time since the Covid 19 restrictions have been reduced and with the majority of our members being double vaccinated we have been able to get out and about in our Classic cars.

Taking advantage of the Government hotel subsidy scheme 40 members visited Agros village in Troodos for a weekend break at the Rodon Hotel at the beginning of September. Led by Sue and Richard, in their 1987 Morgan Plus 8, our members enjoyed extensive tours of the picturesque Troodos mountains, a Treasure hunt incorporating a visit to the Cyprus Railway Museum, and, a Gala Dinner. The Classic cars involved included not only two Morgans, but several MGs, various Mercedes, a Triumph Spitfire, a Lotus Esprit, and a 1958 Ford Custom 300.

Unfortunately following Police advise the Classic Vehicle Harbour Show has been postponed until 2022. However in support of the local Municipalities and businesses the Club will be holding a mobile Show on the 2nd October. The Classic Car-valcade will start from Tea for Two (near Gabors) at approximately 10 30 and be taking a tour of Kato Paphos, The Harbour, Coral Bay, Peyia, and finishing at Ayios Georgios at approximately 11 30. Come and view the cars at the start or finish or give us a wave as we drive past anywhere along the route.

For more information on the above and any of our other meetings check out our Facebook page or go to our website www.paphosclassicvehicleclub.com, or telephone 97760997.

Everyone attending PCVC events must comply with all Covid 19 regulations currently in force.

Useless fact number 107

Most petrol now contains the bio fuel Ethanol, which is an anti-pollutant, and there are plans to increase the amount from 5% to 10%. Unfortunately, Ethanol has an adverse effect on some of the rubber pipework and seals of the engines of classic cars. The good news is that Esso have confirmed that their 98 plus petrol is Ethanol free.
