Tala Monastery Cat Park is in desperate need of volunteers to enable them to carry on with their invaluable work with the deprived cats and kittens found in and around Paphos.
The Cat Park was set up by Dawn & Mark 7 years ago and it has continually grown. The number of cats living there at the moment is 800! The intake has increased considerably over the years with cats either being taken to the park or just dumped outside the gates.
Once a cat is there it is neutered and an attempt to find a suitable home begins. Dawn & Mark have re-homed around 650 cats in total.
The sanctuary is in dire need of volunteers – presently there are so few people offering their time it has become increasingly difficult to keep the park open.
These are the variety of things you could do for the park:
- Preparing the food to feed the cats
- Cleaning out the cat pens
- Helping to keep the park clean
- Washing up
- People with transport to help with visits to the vet
- Fund raising and event organisers
- Working in their charity shop in Kissonerga
- Carrying out maintenance / DIY jobs
Volunteering at the cat park will be a fun way of giving you something different to look forward to and you will make new friends.
Anyone offering to help will only be asked to do things they feel comfortable with. The team are very friendly and will welcome anyone who can offer their time, whether it’s an hour or two per day or per week. Any help will be a huge bonus for Dawn & Mark and, of course, the beautiful cats.

You can also donate bedding, cushions, feeding bowls and toys. Left over tiles are also required as they need to be replaced regularly. Any donations can be left at the park during normal opening hours of 10am – 2pm. You will also be very welcome to come in, have a look around, and meet the team.
