Hi all you football fans.
Well, at last the season starts. We appear to have assembled a good young (and very cosmopolitan) squad. The make-up of the EN.A.D. squad is as follows:
2 x Goalkeepers – 1 Dutch, 1 French
8 x Defenders – 1 Latvian, 3 Cypriot, and 4 French
5 x Midfielders – 1 Belgium, 1 Bulgarian and 3 French
7 x Forwards – 1 Latvian, 2 Belgium and 4 French
The good thing is that the, squad was assembled quite early, and so have had longer to train, play several friendlies and get to know each other before getting involved in the league. If you want a copy of the squad list, please let me know
It is always nice to start the season with a win, which we managed to do. See report below.
The club is selling season tickets at a cost of €100. It will gain entry to all home games including cup matches etc. Should you want one please call either David or me.
EN.A.D. v National Latsion
It was quite obvious, from the kick off, that the away team had come for a draw. We managed to run the game, even though we were without two of our top players. We had a couple of narrow escapes when the opposition hit the post, and scuffed a shot when clear on goal. The first half was played a t a slow pace, and ended goalless. We started the second half on the front foot, and after some close misses, in the 61st minute, we were awarded free kick, some 25 to 30 metres out. Our number 18, Pjort Pavlovkskis stepped up and hit an almost Ronaldoesque shot that went into the back of the net, to the goalies right hand corner, before he had even moved. We continued to press and in time added on, a through ball was latched onto by our number eleven, Nadjib Anzizi (last seasons’ top scorer), to hammer home beyond the goalkeeper. All-in-all a well- earned 2-0 start to the season.
We have two home games in October: Amathous on the 13th and Ethnikos Assias on the 27th. Both games have a 15.30 kick off. Let’s hope we continue the season, the way we ended last season.
