Here we are in September with the sun shining overhead & the blue sea stretching out in front of us.
At Paphos International Sailing Club our sailing activities continue at pace. In the ‘Sail Ionian Yacht Charters’ Summer Series Tony Edwards is currently in the lead with Robin Marsh & Barbara Jones in second place & Peter Wade currently in third. But there is only a few points in it so its all to sail for!!The June Monthly Series was won by the Commodore Mick Dent with Tony Edwards in second place & Paul & Penny Hutton-Ashkenny in third place.
As I write we are now competing for the ‘H2Owen August Monthly Series’, Graham Flint & Lindy Anderson are currently leading the pack with Dimitry Kobyzev & Zbig Wender pushing hard, results in next month’s issue.
Our two ‘Learn To Sail’ training courses in October are now fully subscribed. So, if you would like to learn to sail in a friendly safe environment, take a look at our web site for further details or come down & see us at Agios Georgios on a Thursday or Saturday morning.
We are now looking ahead to our Autumn Regatta which will take place on the 5th & 6th October at Agios Georgois, it will be a great event with many different classes of boats taking part and a BBQ for members on the Saturday evening.
As well as our sailing activities, social events are also taking place at our clubhouse. We have an exciting calendar of events leading up to Christmas kicking off in September with a live band, ‘Oldplay’ on the 10th September. It’s a fancy dress evening on the 17th Septembers, Pirates night, shiver me timbers shipmates!! On the 22nd November we officially welcome all of our new members who have joined us over the last twelve months at a ‘New Members BBQ’, but of course all members are welcome, any excuse for a get together.
