News from St Barnabas’ Anglican Church, Limassol and St Lazarus’ Church, Pissouri – September 2024

I realise that we are only just into September and to think of Christmas may seem very premature for a lot of us but here at St Barnabas Church we are already planning ahead.

This month we start collecting items to go in the Christmas shoe boxes for the seafarers who have been at sea for months and maybe years, the Mission to Seafarers care for these people during the year and at Christmas like to hand out packages of both essential items and festive gifts to bring a little joy into their lives.

From mid-September at Barnabas Church we will have a collection box every Sunday at the back of the church for items to go in these boxes and we are also happy to take monetary donations so that we can buy useful and essential items to fill the boxes nearer the time. If you would like to contribute in anyway please come along on a Sunday morning and speak to Christine Taylor or Brian Goodburn or contact Reverend John Attenborough. To learn more about The Mission to Seafarers in Limassol please drop Rev. John a line by email [email protected] or call him on 99 539144 or even send him a WhatsApp message on +357 99 539144

Secondly, with Christmas in mind, we are accepting donations of dried and tinned goods to make up small hampers at Christmas for those in need, we do keep a provisions cupboard going through the year, but it is nice to put extras together to help some of those less well off have a better Christmas.

Last, and by no means least, is our Christmas Bazaar which is held at St Barnabas Church. This year it is to be held on Saturday, 30th of November and we will have refreshment outlets, sales stalls, competitions, raffle, entertainment and much more . Gates will open at 10 am and you can be sure of a warm welcome and a few hours of festive fun . Please put the date in your diary and come along. For more information please contact our organiser Charles Dodd. [email protected]
