Special Scheme to Boost Domestic Tourism From September to November

In a bid to assist the domestic tourism market the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, with the approval of the Council of Ministers, has launched a domestic tourism scheme to encourage residents to holiday in Cyprus and explore various parts of the island.

The scheme starts on 1st September and ends on 30th November 2020. Permanent Residents of Cyprus will be able to take advantage of affordable prices at the nearly 100 Tourist Accommodations across the Island that have signed up to the scheme. These special offer prices on accommodation are being part subsidised.

The tourist accommodations include Hotels, Organized Apartments, Tourist Villages and Agro-tourism facilities which, as part of the scheme will only provide breakfast with the accommodation. The aim is that guests will head out into the wider area to find local places to eat lunch and dinner, helping to strengthen all local businesses, through the increased traffic that is expected to be generated in various parts of the country.

The scheme is expected to help reduce the recession in the economy and maintain employment, in the difficult times that the global economy is going through due to the Coronavirus.

The Scheme will last from September 1st to November 30th, 2020. It includes Tourist Accommodations which offer for the month of September the maximum price of €80 with breakfast for a double room per night, for October the maximum price of €70 and for November the maximum price of €60.

In addition, the Plan provides for the coverage of 25% of the cost of accommodation by the Deputy Ministry, including charges for children who stay in the same room with their parents.

The minimum stay for the use of the above prices is 2 nights.

Taking part in the scheme are: 26 hotels in Famagusta, 18 in Larnaca and its mountain areas, 16 in Limassol and its mountain areas, 11 Nicosia, the mountains and the Kato Pyrgos area and 25 in Paphos and its mountain areas.

Those interested in using the scheme should make direct contact with the accommodation on the provided lists or travel agents.
