For the last 56 years we have been excited to promote the forthcoming production of Shakespeare at Curium. However, it is with the utmost regret that we have to announce that this year’s production has had to be cancelled.
Although this is one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays (six productions at Curium since 1962) it proved impossible to fully cast the play and the Performing Arts for Cyprus Charities committee had no option but to cancel the event.
The decision has been a great disappointment to everybody concerned as there can’t be many venues in the world which compare: high up on the cliff top, fantastic views, the sun setting in the background – it’s pure magic for the cast and the audience.
What a thrill it was, last year, to read the following Facebook comment:
“We had the pleasure of seeing Friday night’s performance. It was superb, the best €15 entertainment we have had since we came to the island 5 years ago! Well done to all concerned!”
Those who have been involved for several years are finding it difficult to believe that, come June, they won’t be building the set, being measured for costumes, learning their lines or supporting the Front of House manager.
However, like many other groups in Cyprus we are suffering from a lack of fresh blood to swell the ranks.
New directors, cast and backstage crew are urgently required if this prestigious event is to have a future.
If you are new to the island or are simply a “resting” director/actor and would like to be involved in a 2019 production then please make contact with the PACC committee using the following email address.
