Paphos Running Club: Run – Bike – Swim – Hike

We are a well-established multi-sports club with a wide range of interests, welcoming runners, cyclists, swimmers, hikers, and triathletes of all abilities. Whether you’re just starting out or an experienced athlete, there’s a place for you here

Track is Back
Our monthly track sessions are back in action at Peyia Stadium. We’ve introduced a five-part rolling programme designed to build running fitness and confidence. The season kicked off in September with 16 enthusiastic members sprinting, stretching, and smiling their way through the first workout. The group also learned about Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), an advanced stretching technique that’s easier to do than it is to pronounce!

Fun in the Dark
A large PRC contingent took part in the 5km Arodafnousa Night Run on 24 September starting at 7pm from 28 October Square. This fun community event takes place annually as part of the European Week of Sport, encouraging everyone to be more active. It was well attended with runners and walkers of all ages joining in. PRC runners Karen Allen, Andy Bashford, Alain Collignon, Janet Fenech, Cazzy Gill and Peter Portnoi were all delighted to return home with trophies for their performances.

Tales of the Trails
We have launched a series of trail running workshops, helping road runners discover the joy (and challenge) of the trails. So far sessions have taken us to Pikni Forest, the Avakas Gorge, the hills of Ineia and the Diarizos valley. Alongside spectacular scenery, runners have learned about descent and ascent techniques, running on varied surfaces, navigation and trail safety; invaluable skills for our Sunday trail runs, trail events and for running in nature. Huge thanks to Lee Stevens for devising and running these workshops.

Limassol Grand Prix Highlights
PRC athletes made their mark at the Limassol 10K, the fourth race in the Cyprus Grand Prix series, held on 28 September. Representing the club were Jon Kew, Kat Osborne, Mark Pead, Mark Russell, Thecla Strydom and Mercy Tagwirei, all crossing the finish line in under an hour. Special congratulations go to Jon and Thecla for taking first place in their categories, and to Mark Pead for his second place. The final race of the series will be here in Paphos on 7 December — expect excitement, competition, and plenty of PRC spirit!

Coffee, Cake and Kindness
Mark your calendars for 11am on Thursday 6 November, when we’ll gather at Coral Star in Peyia for a charity Coffee Morning. Guests can enjoy delicious cakes, good company, and entertainment from Louise Vreony and Melanie Ballard’s B Sharp choir. A raffle with fantastic prizes will add to the fun. All money raised will support the Cancer Patients Support Group, helping to fund a transport bus for patients attending treatment. Come along, indulge a little, and make a difference!

If you’d like to take part in any of our wide-ranging activities (Running-Biking-Swimming-Hiking), please do get in touch.
