Paphos Running Club: Run – Bike – Swim – Hike

We welcome everyone from beginners to international athletes, so find out more about our Ladies-only Sole Sisters section, our Wave Warriors, our Wheelnutters cycling group, and our flourishing Walking group, at ‘Paphos Running Club’ website or Facebook page.

2025 Points Competition

Every year we have a competition where Runners Bikers Swimmers and Hikers, whatever their ability, have an equal chance of winning the competition by earning points in at least 4 out of 8 events throughout the year.
This is made possible by testing participants’ ability to judge and/or predict their time, pace or distance over a certain route, the details of which are witheld until immediately before each event starts. How fast you go makes no difference!

15th February – Pace Judgement

This year’s competition started very well with 24 runners, cyclists and walkers trying their luck over a 2-lap course, the winner being the one whose lap times are closest to each other.
Some went flat out all the way but most took it nice and easy in the belief that if we kept our breathing steady, our pace would follow suit.

Today’s winner, who therefore leads the overall competition, was Carla Poole who’s lap times varied by just 2 seconds. It was a very close contest, because in joint second place with just 4 seconds difference were Gary Spiers and Janet Fenech, who came 4th in last year’s competition.

2nd February Paphos Park Run

Another good turnout with PRC winning 7 age groups and our indomitable Lisa Gwynne topping the overall age-rated competition with an incredible International Standard 87.4% performance. Incidentally, Lisa is one of those people who is good at everything she puts her mind to, having recently qualified for the World Open Water Swimming Championships.
The outright winner was one of our regular triathlete participants, Aleksandra Kalistratova, who recorded a Personal Best time of 18 minutes 37 seconds. There was obviously something in the air that morning however, because one third of the whole field recorded Personal Best times!
12-year-old Ekaterina Nasekina (a name we often mention!) again won her age group with an excellent 21-minute performance this time around, albeit still almost a minute slower than her PB!
