Paphos Running Club: Run – Bike – Swim – Hike

We’re an established multi-sports club with a range of interests, welcoming runners, cyclists, swimmers, and hikers of all abilities. Whether you’re just starting out or an experienced athlete, there’s a place for you here.

PRC Oscar Night

In February PRC held its annual Awards and Gala Dinner, beginning with our AGM. Once the formalities were complete, members enjoyed a hot buffet before moving on to the much-anticipated awards ceremony.

Members previously submitted nominations and the PRC Committee had the difficult task of selecting the final winners. In Oscar-style fashion, the top nominations were announced along with the reasons for the final choice, before each winner stepped forward to receive their award.

It was a special moment to see the reactions of the winners, some surprised, some emotional, knowing that fellow club members had nominated them. The evening continued with dancing, drinks and plenty of celebration.

Award categories and winners were:

Most Promising Newcomer: Jill McCool
Most Improved Athlete: Cazzy Gill
Personal Achievement: Vanessa Morton
Outstanding Athletic Achievement: Monica Williams
Athlete of the Year: Norah Ndivo
Team Working Award: Rema Lawson
President’s Award: Lee Stevens
Lifetime Membership: Jenny Clarke

Tui Marathon – the Big One!

The Tui Marathon weekend in March is a highlight of the PRC racing calendar. Each year many club members are involved, either racing or volunteering.

Working closely with the event organisers, more than 30 club volunteers assisted with preparations beforehand and supported on race days by manning water stations and acting as marshals along the course.

Weather conditions were favourable and the whole event was extremely well organised. Paphos Harbour had a fantastic atmosphere, buzzing with anticipation before the races and celebration afterwards.

This year PRC fielded 36 runners across the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K and 5K races. Club members achieved an impressive 17 top-ten finishes in their age categories, including six first places:

Marathon: 1st F60, Karen Bury, 4:04:55
Half Marathon: 1st F70+, Nina Smith, 2:40:18
10K: 1st M50, John Kew, 00:39:58
10K: 1st M60, Ben Green, 00:45:50
10K: 1st M70+, David Dowd, 00:48:36
10K: 1st F60, Janet Sutherland, 00:54:58

Alongside podium places were many personal achievements. Some members were racing for the first time, others achieved PBs, and some took part by walking when running was not possible. Every participant gave their all and contributed to a strong club presence and a memorable weekend.

Looking Ahead…

Our 2026 Points Series is now underway. This fun, cross-disciplinary competition brings together runners, cyclists, swimmers and walkers for a series of challenges throughout the year.

With sea temperatures rising, our swimmers are returning to the water, inspired by club member Mark Robertson who won 5 gold medals and a silver at the Welsh National Masters.

Champion speed walker Kevin Phillips will be providing coaching for PRC walkers and runners, sharing techniques for this high-intensity, low-impact discipline.

If you’d like to take part in any of our activities, please get in touch.
