Police on Monday were still seeking a Lithuanian man in connection with the murder of 36-year-old Iryna Hurskaya from Belarus, found dead in her home in Ayios Tyhonas in Limassol.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Aistis Mikalauskas, 29, thought to be her boyfriend, who was seen visiting her home frequently.
Reports said the suspect has been absent from work in the past few days, reinforcing the authorities’ suspicions that he was implicated.
Hurskaya was found dead in her bedroom by her 15-year-old son and one of her friends, who went around on Sunday.
Despite living in the same house, the son last saw his mother on Friday afternoon.
He told police he had heard shouting early on Saturday morning while in his bedroom but ignored them thinking they were coming from elsewhere.
The woman had multiple injuries to the face and blood was found in the bedroom and other parts of the house.
The woman, who is divorced, has two other children, three and six, who were with her ex since Friday lunchtime.
