What present would you like for your 65th Birthday? Well, Joy Pike presented her husband, Graham with a 1961 Morris Minor called “LULU”.
Lulu is our Classic for the Month of May, which coincides with Graham’s next birthday and PCVCs 2025 Classic Car Harbour Show. This 60 year old, four door, Morris Minor saloon car will take pride of place at the entrance to Paphos Harbour on the 11th May.
Lulu was supplied as a new car to Cyprus in October 1961 and still carries her original registration number. She is still fitted with her 948cc B Series engine which provides 37bhp and produced an incredible top speed of 75 mph but a rather sedentary 0/60 time of 31.3 seconds. The car carries the famous Smoke Grey paintwork which was so popular with District Nurses and Midwives throughout the length and breadth of the UK and is in original unmolested condition, apart from new upholstery and carpets. However, Graham has made a few contemporary improvements, such as the rear boot rack and the fully equipped period picnic basket. The car`s condition reflects the amazing genuine recorded mileage of only 35,800 miles!
The Minor 1000 was produced by Morris Motors from 1956 until 1971 and with over 850, 000 being sold, it was one of the most popular family car in the UK. It was, according to their sales team, “Practical, Economical, and, Affordable” which made it a common sight of the road during the 50s/60s. They have always remained collectable as classic cars and are guaranteed to bring a smile to everyone`s face.
If you would like to see Lulu, the magnificent Morris Minor 1000, and 150 other Classic Vehicles come to our Harbour Show on 11th May. There are no entrance fees.
