Paphos Running Club: Run – Bike – Swim – Hike – May 2024

We welcome everyone from beginners to international athletes, so find out more about our Ladies-only Sole Sisters section, our Wave Warriors, our Wheelnutters cycling group, our flourishing Walking group, and our Triathlon sessions, at ‘Paphos Running Club’ website or Facebook page.

Sole Sisters

2024 has started very well for Sole sisters as we explore new routes with stunning scenery, including 3 brand new village runs at Tremithousa, Mandria and Akoursos.

We achieved great things in the Logicom races at the beginning of March and we are very pleased to be attracting such diverse new members from all around the world, including Alita from Germany, Artjom from Russia, Mercy from Zimbabwe and Gerard from South Africa, a truly cosmopolitan bunch!

If you fancy joining us for a run/coffee/chat on any Monday Wednesday or Friday morning, Sole Sisters can be found on Facebook.

6th April 2024 Malta Xterra Triathlon

The first Saturday in April always means Nic Sutherland will be at the gruelling off-road triathlon race, the Malta Xterra.

The day was bright and warm with no wind which is very unusual for Sandy Bay in Malta, and at precisely 9am the gun heralded the usual frenetic beach start of the 1,500-metre swim leg. That done, it was off with the wetsuit and straight onto the very tough 32km mountain bike route.

Nic survived that without incident but the worst was yet to come as the 2-lap 11km run leg was one steep climb after another! With a finishing time “comfortably” under 4 hours, he was rewarded with 3rd place.

7th April 2024 Paphos Park Run

Near perfect conditions and a record turnout of well over 100 participants made for a great event, especially as the first 5 finishers were all tightly grouped with less than 2 kms to go.

James Trubridge from Newquay Cornwall managed to gain a slender lead over Sam Tierney and David Fallon, to finish in just under 18 minutes with the other two hot on his heels. A total of 10 runners bettered 20 minutes including 12-year-old Izzy Wheeler from Horsham finishing 10th and 15-year-old Lewis Trubridge from Newquay finishing 5th.

Lewis Trubridge

As usual PRC managed to win half a dozen age groups, with Ben Green and Sue Rowland smashing their personal best times in the process!
