3rd March 2024 Logicom Marathon Races
Always the focal point of our Spring endeavours, these International races are the main event in the Paphos sporting season, with over 3,500 participants and this year’s marathon winner, Georgios Tofi slashed 4 minutes off the long-standing course record with a time of 2h:29m:31s, despite a very tough headwind over the final 10kms.
PRC had a bumper crop of over 40 finishers in all the races this year as well as fielding over 40 marshals, and we came away with too many to mention age group Podium Places capped off by a full house on the podium in the men’s over 70 half marathon category:
In the 10km race 24 of our members finished, Carolyn Stennard battling the tough headwind to be our first finisher in exactly 49 minutes, Sue Rowland just outside 50 minutes winning her age group outright, with Karen Allen and Karen Bury both coming third in their age groups.
3rd March 2024 Sole Sisters
Continuing the Logicom theme, weren’t we ready for some big efforts among our sisters? Some broke records, some did excellent PB’s, some ran Logicom for the first time and some even ran a race for the first time ever!
Sole Sisters could be seen proudly flagging their vests everywhere; 5k, 10k, half marathon, marathon, and also very importantly volunteering for running the water stations and marshalling.
A glorious day where everyone enjoyed themselves, especially Nora Mwanzau who after last year’s marathon swore “Never Again” yet here seen doing a jig AFTER finishing this year’s marathon in under 5 hours, whilst her PRC team mates Marina Melvin and Chetna Grimshaw finished in 4h:10m and 4h:44m respectively.
9th March 2024 Triathlon Training
Our 28th “Shoestring Shambles” triathlon training session went off without a hitch, despite the roughest sea conditions we have experienced for these sessions.
Demetrious Kalli again triumphed in the longer distance, with Dmitry Vinogradov leading his wife Katerina Vinogradova home in the shorter distance.
