Kallepia 6km race 23rd December

It was a cold afternoon but the mood was warm and welcoming as is usual at village events.

The children started first and we were all keen to warm-up on the uphill start followed by a long downhill. We turned around the church at the bottom, then back up to the top into the teeth of a bitterly cold wind, then around again for the second lap.

Sole Sisters

2023 ended with lots of excitement for Sole Sisters, including the informal 4-Day challenge. Several members took part in some of the days, but showing true grit and determination, Ange Bullingham completed all 4 days of this gruelling challenge in impressive style!

The Christmas dinner at Martika’s was a success and lots of dancing sisters could be seen shaking down the turkey meal.

During the last days of December between Christmas and New Year, several sisters helped, ran with, supported and fed Lee Stevens during his Breast of Friends charity run from Ayia Napa to Paphos.

2024 has dawned and many Sole Sisters are training for the 10k and half marathon Logicom races in March, a far cry from where it all began with our Couch to 5km programmes not so very long ago!

We are following training programmes designed to empower us at our specific chosen distance, so we expect to achieve more Personal Best performances, greater satisfaction from our efforts, and easier, faster recovery.

Paphos Park Run 7th January

Another good turn out this month saw Paphos Running Club win 9 age groups outright as well as the overall age-related performance race with Lisa Gwynne yet again topping the bill with a very impressive international standard 85% performance.

A regular top 5 runner overall is young triathlete Ekaterina Nasekina, second fastest lady on the day, which at only 14, bodes very well for the future!

Also good to see was Ioannis Aresti getting back to fitness in 3rd place with a sub-20 minute run, and great performances by Thecla Strydom and Ben Green.

Ioannis Aresti 3rd Overall
