If we asked you to name a US manufacturer of motorcycles you would without doubt say, Harley Davidson. This company was founded in 1903 and has been producing it`s iconic, individually styled “bikes” ever since. These are instantly recognisable and have a worldwide following being known by a variety of nick-names, such as “Harleys”, “HDs” and “Hogs”. We present today a 1994 Harley Davidson Softail which in the month of September becomes our Classic of the Month.
This stunning, immaculate, motorcycle is a black and silver Heritage Nostalgia Special Edition, with white-wall wire wheels, that is owned by PCVC member, Terry Spiby. He became the second registered owner when he bought it in the UK from Warr`s of London in 1996 with only 1000 miles on the clock. The Harley is powered by a 1340cc V twin which produces not only a blistering performance but also that distinctive, instantly recognisable, engine note.
Over the next 19 years, Terry and his “Hog” toured around most of England, Scotland and continental Europe, including visits to Colditz Castle in Germany, and the Troll Road in Norway. In 2015 he imported the bike to Cyprus and was able to sell the UK number plate, M2 HOG, for £1500, which offset the costs of shipping and insurance!
Since then the “Harley” and Terry have visited every corner of the Island and are frequently to be seen participating in one of the numerous PCVC drives around the beautiful Cypriot countryside.
