Mark Sunday 22nd May in your diary, as this is the date of the PCVC Show at Paphos Harbour. Supported by the Paphos Municipality, the gates will open at 10 00 am and entrance is free. Come and view the stunning collection of classic vehicles from all over Cyprus.
“Grace, Space, and Pace” was how the ad men described the Mark 2 Jaguar, if you were to add the word “Beauty” then you will have the perfect description of our Classic of the Month. This Jaguar Mark 2 is owned by Penny and Alan Wood and was imported by them in 2017 from the UK, although the car had spent 25 years in the USA.
The car was manufactured in 1964 and is powered by a 3.4 litre petrol engine that smoothly produces 210 hp through a 4 speed gearbox with overdrive, giving a top speed of 120mph.
The interior is, of course, well appointed with red leather and walnut trim. The immaculate Golden Sand paintwork clads what is considered, by some, to be the best looking saloon car Jaguar ever produced. You may recognise the style, as the Mark 2 was the car favoured by Inspector Morse and extensively featured in the TV series.
Penny and Alan are justly proud of their Jaguar Mark 2 and you can meet them and their Classic at the PCVC events throughout this month, including our Classic Vehicle Show on the 22nd May at Paphos Harbour.
For details of all PCVC events can be found on our Facebook page or Website (www.paphosclassicvehicleclub.com) or telephone 97760997

What connects this months Classic Jaguar Mark 2 to last months Austin 7 ? The Jaguar Motor Company was originally established in 1922 as the Swallow Sidecar Company, and the first car they built, in 1927, was based on an Austin 7 chassis! You could probably have guessed that this was called the Swallow, but what may be a surprise is that it was built in Blackpool!
