It has been a busy month for Pafos United Walking Football Club.
We have had a number of new players joining the club whilst our recent sessions have been fully booked.
We have had challenge matches between our select team and an England walking football management team who were on holiday on the island. A couple of our players helped to make up the England team and were no doubt proud to be wearing an England shirt. In an outstanding performance we drew the match 0-0.
Our Ladies team goes from strength to strength and they had a friendly match with a team from our committee. It put them in good stead to play a challenge match against Aphrodite Ladies and ran out winners 2-0.
We have had a team from the UK asking us to form a link and twin with them and we look forward next year to playing home and away matches. We are also in talks with other UK teams to play matches in Cyprus. We continue to have visits from reps of UK teams looking at our setup and all have given favourable remarks.
Our latest Player of the Month Award was awarded jointly to Geoff Dixon and Mick Roberts both richly deserved. The Player of the Day Award after the first round of the Zephyros mini league 3 went to Steve Ballard. (photo is Steve Ballard presented with his award from Chief Coach Steve Drew)
