For over 20 years, the Paphos Writers Group has been meeting in Peyia. Our mission is simple: to help writers—and aspiring writers—develop their skills, whether you dream of publishing a book, writing a memoir for your family, or just improving your craft.
While most of our members are retired expats living locally, anyone with a desire to write is welcome to join. Can’t make it in person? No problem—several members participate online from outside the area and even from different countries.
We meet weekly on Thursday mornings, typically with around a dozen people in the room. Members who have something written, are encouraged to read it aloud—poems, short stories, novel chapters, or memoirs. You’ll receive positive, constructive feedback focused on structure, not content. What you write about is your story. We help you tell it better.
Over the years, our writing has helped us truly get to know one another. We’ve formed a strong bond as a result. New members are always warmly welcomed, and we make a real effort to integrate them into the group. If you find it challenging to meet a new group or you think your writing isn’t “good enough”, come a little early and you will probably find a couple of members enjoying a cup of coffee at the restaurant. Introduce yourself and they will be more than willing to help you feel relaxed and comfortable. See you Thursday.
