Cyprus Reservoirs At 45.4% Of Capacity

According to figures released today on the website of the Water Development Department, reservoir storage today stands at 45.4% of capacity.

February 2019

The current combined total water stored in the reservoirs is 195,073 MCM (Million Cubic Metres), or 45.4% of capacity, which is about two thirds of the amount this time last year when the figure was 202,518 MCM, or 67.1%.

The three largest dams, responsible for the majority of our water storage, are Kouris (Total Capacity 115,000 MCM), Asprokremmos (Total Capacity 52,375 MCM) and Evretou (Total Capacity 24,000 MCM). Kouris’ current storage is at 39.2% which is two thirds compared to the same day last year when it stood at 62.4%. Asprokremmos is at 55.7% compared to the 79% recorded for the same day last year and Evretou is at 50% compared to the 69.1% recorded for the same day last year.

It remains important for us all to control our water consumption and avoid complacency.
