Passengers from the United Kingdom are in state quarantine for a period of 7 days
Taking into account the data obtained regarding the new strain of SARS-CoV-2 virus and in an effort to ensure Public Health for precautionary reasons and until further clarification by the scientific community, for those arriving at Larnaca Airports and Paphos Airports from the United Kingdom from today, 21 December 2020, at 6 pm, the following shall apply:
- Passengers will undergo a laboratory test upon arrival at the Airport.
- All passengers arriving from the United Kingdom will be transferred to Republic hotels for a mandatory 7-day self-restraint. People under the age of 18 will be able to self-limit at home. However, it is possible for them to remain restricted in hotels if they travel with their parents / guardians or, if they cannot, restrict themselves at home.
- At the 7 th day they will be resubmitted in laboratory testing and those with negative results will continue home their self-limitation for 3 more days (total restriction days: 10).
- On the 10th day and provided that no symptoms occur, people will automatically be released. In case of symptoms, they should contact their Personal Physician for further medical guidance.
It is noted that the costs for transportation and accommodation in hotels are borne by the State.
At the same time, for evaluation and investigation purposes, those who have arrived from the United Kingdom last week and have been diagnosed positive in the sampling tests performed, the samples will be forwarded to the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics for evaluation of the presence of this mutant.
The Scientific Advisory Committee on Coronavirus, in consultation with the relevant mechanisms of the European Union, is closely following the developments and any new recommendation / suggestion may change the above regulations, which will be announced immediately.
