Announcement of the Ministry of Health regarding new cases of COVID-19 disease
In addition to the three deaths announced earlier today, the death of another male patient with COVID-19, aged 80, with underlying diseases, who was hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital, is announced. The ultimate cause of death is attributed to COVID-19. The total number of final causes of COVID-19 is 38, (24 men and 14 women), with an average age of 75 years.
In addition, the Ministry of Health informs that, according to information received today by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit from contracting laboratories, out of a total of 3,088 laboratory diagnoses, 207 new cases of COVID-19 were identified.
In detail, the current cases emerged as follows:
- Out of 881 samples taken through the process of tracking the contacts of already confirmed cases, 73 cases were identified.
- Out of 1,616 samples taken through private initiative, 100 cases were identified.
- Out of 179 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 10 cases were identified.
- From 43 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics, 21 cases were identified.
- Out of 83 samples taken under the control program of students, teachers and school staff, 2 cases were identified.
- Out of 160 samples taken during the sampling carried out by the KOP in Associations participating in its events, 1 case was identified.
In addition, the laboratory test of 126 samples taken under the immigrant structure control program was completed, without detecting cases.
Therefore, based on the data so far, the total number of cases is 6,853.
In addition, the Famagusta General Hospital treats 42 people positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, five of whom are in the Intensive Care Unit. In addition, the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital treats a total of eight patients, two of whom are out of ventilator. Another nine people are being treated in a COVID-19 ward at Nicosia General Hospital.
