Health authorities on Thursday announced that 121 more people have tested positive for the Sars-COV-2 virus, taking the cumulative number to 4,051 since the start of the outbreak here.
The latest positives came from a total of 2,530 tests.
According to the breakdown, 50 positives were detected via contact tracing, from 700 samples analysed.
Another 49 came about from individuals getting tested on their own initiative, from 338 samples.
Nine more positives were picked up from among 213 samples in tests conducted by the microbiology labs of the general hospitals.
Six people tested positive on arrival at airports, from 1,114 samples.
Lastly, seven persons came out positive (165 samples) after being referred for testing by their personal physician.
According to a health ministry statement, currently 27 people are receiving treatment for coronavirus at the Famagusta general hospital. Four of them are in the high-dependency unit.
In addition, four more persons are intubated at Nicosia general hospital’s ICU unit, and seven others are being treated in the dedicated Covid-19 ward.
Also on Thursday announced that Foreign Minister Nicos Christodoulides came out negative in his first coronavirus test.
Christodoulides been in self-isolation since Tuesday after an individual in his professional entourage tested positive at the airport on arrival from a trip to Athens.
The minister will be tested again.
