113 new coronavirus cases were announced by the health ministry on Wednesday night, raising the total number recorded so far to 3,930.
The new cases were identified as a result of 3,122 tests.
Meanwhile, the foreign ministry tweeted that minister Nicos Christodoulides was self isolating after a close contact from his working environment was found positive.
The majority of the cases recorded on Wednesday, 49, were found via 1,062 private tests.
A further 35 cases were identified via 530 contact tracing related tests. Another 13 cases were discovered after 132 tests were done at the general hospitals’ labs.
Four cases were from travellers, where 689 tests were done.
Finally, 12 cases were found at schools after 329 tests were done as part of the programme to test students and staff.
There are now 26 patients at the Famagusta referral hospital with five in the high dependency unit.
There are four patients at the Nicosia hospital ICU and a further eight patients in the Covid-19 ward.
The ministry reiterated its call for people to respect all measures as the rising number of cases has led to a dangerous increase in the need for hospitalisation which could even result in death.
Cyprus, like much of Europe, is experiencing a steep rise in cases, which has led many governments to reimpose restrictions aimed at preventing further spread of the virus.
Many, most recently Germany and France, are bring back lockdown measures.
