Announcement of the Ministry of Health regarding new cases of COVID-19 disease
The Ministry of Health announces that today, March 11, 2021:
– One person has died of COVID-19, bringing the total number of deaths to 236.
– 185 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 36 are in serious condition.
– A total of 43,177 tests have been performed to detect the disease by the molecular method (PCR) and the method of antigen rapid detection (antigen rapid test).
– 431 (positivity rate: 1%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test (antigen rapid test), bringing the total number of cases to 38,496 .
The current results are detailed.
A. Deaths from COVID-19 disease:
One person who died with the ultimate cause of death attributed to COVID-19 is:
– A woman, 81 years old, with underlying diseases, who ended up today at the Limassol General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 is 236, of which:
156 men (66%), and
– 80 women (34%).
The average age of those who die from the disease is 79 years.
B. Patients:
In total, 185 patients with COVID-19 are treated in OKYPY hospitals, of which 36 are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 36 patients who are critical, 16 are intubated, four are admitted to an intravenous intensive care unit and 16 to an intensive care unit.
C. Positive cases COVID -19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 43,177 laboratory diagnoses performed today, 2,940 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 40,237 by the antigen rapid test, 431 cases of COVID-19 were identified, which resulted as follows:
- 128 cases from 814 samples taken through the process of tracking close contact (primary contacts) cases.
- 2 cases of 364 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 64 cases from 1,419 samples taken through private initiative.
- 8 cases from 222 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 1 case from 121 samples received under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics.
- 16 cases from 391 samples tested by the method of antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories.
- 212 cases from 39,846 samples that were examined with the method of antigen rapid test through the program of the Ministry of Health.
