BowlsHazel Bagshaw, a member of Coral Bay Bowls Club, won the final of the Bowls Cyprus National Ladies four bowl competition in 2017. Bowlers who win this competition have the honour of representing Cyprus in the World Bowls “Champion of Champions” competition in the following year. This year the event will be held in Australia, at St John’s Park Bowling Club, about 30 kilometres outside Sydney, NSW, over 7 days, commencing on 28th October.

Hazel has been helped on her way by fundraising carried out by members of Coral Bay Bowls Club holding an evening of entertainment with a barbecue and a ‘picnic in the park’ held at the PIKNE woodlands site.

About her achievement Hazel says

“I started bowling in the UK and was delighted to find it was supported in Cyprus.  It’s been an ambition to qualify for a national final since moving here, which I achieved for the first time last year in the ladies singles.  No one was more surprised than me when I won the title as singles has never been my forte. I am looking forward to this amazing opportunity to play at world level competing against countries large and small and have received overwhelming support, together with helpful advice, from my fellow bowlers at my own and the other clubs, and I would like to add my thanks here”.

Coral Bay Bowls Club is proud to welcome new members, who receive free coaching from Bowls Cyprus qualified coaches. If you’ve never tried bowling and would like to have a go contact Margaret on 97815979 or for more information or visit our website:
