The flourishing C3A Limassol Photography Group held its annual Christmas photography competition on 13th December, in combination with its Christmas lunch, at the Aphrodite Club in Erimi.
The competition was entitled “Silhouette” and members were encouraged to be imaginative in their interpretation. It is quite a challenging subject as it involves taking photos using the light of the sun to illuminate the subject from behind and, as we all know, shooting into the sun is, for most amateur photographers, something that is to be avoided. Using Photoshop, It is possible to take a conventional photo and modify the subject by making it “black”.
The competition judge, George Andrei Berezinte a local Cypriot professional photographer, congratulated the group on their efforts and expressed the view that the winner, Venetia Glavin, had produced a beautiful composition and an outstanding result. Venetia is a new member of the Photographic Group, and is clearly a talented photographer. Second and third prizes went to Domenico Chille and Mark Allen. George was very impressed with the variety of subjects and the number of entrants and congratulated the group on another successful year.
The Photography Group is currently undergoing some changes and further details of meeting venues and dates can be obtained from Claudine Snell but the first meeting of 2018 is at the Pissouri Multicultural Center on the 16th January at 10.00 am.
