Have you recently arrived in Cyprus? Is it a permanent move or just for visits? Maybe you have spare time on your hands and you are used to a more active lifestyle. If you are a lady over 40 or a man over 50, then come and see us at Pafos United Walking Football Club where you can continue your active life. New members are always welcome, whether you see yourself as a player, goalkeeper, or even a referee. Not forgetting experienced coaches; if you have played in years gone by, come and share your knowledge and experience. Come along to AM Fair Game Centre on the road to the Tremithousa Industrial Estate, and show us your skills. You can find us on Facebook or go to our website puwfc.com. You can email us at info@puwfc.com or even call us on 96742836.
Congratulations to our own Dave Farnworth, February’s Player of the Month. A very stylish, skilled player to have on your team. Or if you see him in the opposition’s team, you know it is going to be a tough game. Well done Dave; thoroughly deserved.
As well as competing the WFiC Winter League, we are now moving into a time when overseas clubs like to drop in for a game while they are holidaying in Cyprus. In March we are welcoming Hawkwell Athletic from the UK. A three-club round robin tournament will be held on March 17th.
This is followed by a very special visit. On May 1st we will be delighted to host the England Kicking Cancer team. This will be a game made of England International walking footballers and our own local players who are all recovering from cancer in one form or another.
It is a charity event so please put a date in your diary and come along and possibly consider donating to an extremely worthy cause, and you can also be introduced to the world of walking football. Kick-off will be at 8.30 a.m. at the AM Fair Game Centre.
Then before the onset of summer, we have Thames WFC returning. It will be a pleasure to play a couple of games against a very good side.
Finally, don’t forget our regular sessions on Monday and Wednesday evenings starting at 6 p.m., and Friday mornings at 8.30 a.m.
Thank you for reading and we will have more news next month.
