Despite torrential rain in other parts of Cyprus, Aphrodite Hills enjoyed sunshine and scattered clouds, along with the usual wind, as we kicked off our first event of the Autumn season: our second Padel tournament of 2024.
The event saw 24 pairs competing in a busy afternoon of matches. The first round was divided into four groups of six teams each, played in a round-robin format. The winners and runners-up from each group advanced to the quarter-finals, which then followed a straight knockout format. The remaining four pairs competed in the plate competition, also on a knockout basis. This format ensured all participants got great value for the number of games played.
The main competition culminated in an exciting final between Aris Skordis & Andrea Theoti and Christian Kleijweg & Mara Strabbing. Christian and Mara emerged victorious, claiming the September Cups.
The Plate competition was equally competitive, with Oliver Lehmann & Paul Reibold facing Pavel Degtoyarev & Kyle Ferguson in the final. Oliver and Paul triumphed, winning the September Plate.
