We continue to be amazed at the response we have received from women’s walking football teams throughout the UK who wish to come to Cyprus and play matches against our women’s team. We are in the process of arranging a tournament to take place in the early part of next year. In the meantime, our members are busy negotiating special prices for our visitors such as hotel and taxi fares.
Following on from our successful Women’s Open Day we are organising on Monday 5th and 19th September at 6 30 pm a women’s only training session at the Fairgame Sports Centre. This is an opportunity for any woman interested in finding out more about Walking football to come along and talk to our members. More information from our Secretary John on 97611267
We mustn’t forget our thriving men’s section who are also arranging various matches against overseas opposition.
For part of August we will only be able to play on one pitch as Andreas the owner of Fairgame Sports Centre, our home ground, is arranging for the pitches to be re-laid. We already have some of the best pitches in Cyprus and are grateful to the support we receive from Andreas who continues to give us the best possible facilities.
This month we belatedly awarded the Player of the month for June to one of our longest serving members Billy Smith whilst the July award went to a Wednesday evening regular Julian Greensides. The photo shows chairman Tony Watson presenting the July award.
