The health ministry has reportedly received complaints that fake positive Covid-19 results have been issued by certain pharmacies, prompting authorities to warn of potential sanctions.
Health Minister Michalis Hadjipantelas has issued a warning to the Cyprus pharmaceutical association to bolster protocols at the pharmacies authorised to carry out rapid Covid-19 tests.
According to daily Phileleftheros, the minister further warned that sampling checks will be carried out on customers from the pharmacies. Should any false results be found to have been issued, the pharmacy in question will lose the right to carry out rapid tests and may face further penalties.
Head of the pharmaceutical association Eleni Piera told the Cyprus Mail that she has not been officially informed of such a complaint and could not comment further until she has received such a notification.
