Announcement of the Ministry of Health regarding new cases of COVID-19 disease
The Ministry of Health announced 152 cases of COVID-19 on Sunday. 141 new cases were detected from 3,213 PCR Tests and 11 cases were confirmed from rapid tests taken previously.
The Ministry of Health informs that a total of 7,614 tests were performed today to detect COVID-19 disease.
A. Molecular examination ( PCR test ): Of the 7,614 laboratory tests, 3,213 laboratory diagnoses were performed by the molecular method (PCR), with 141 cases of COVID-19 disease, which resulted as follows:
- Out of 637 samples taken through the process of tracking the contacts of already confirmed cases, 52 cases were identified.
- Out of 777 samples taken through private initiative, 41 cases were identified.
- From 232 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 15 cases were identified.
- Out of 240 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics, 3 cases were identified.
- Out of 78 samples taken in the Limassol District as part of a control of employees who fall under the exemptions for movement to and from the Limassol and Paphos Districts, 13 cases were identified.
- Out of 702 samples taken in the District of Nicosia in the context of control of employees who fall under the exemptions for movement to and from the Provinces of Limassol and Paphos, 6 cases were identified.
- Out of 212 samples taken in Paphos District as part of the control of employees who fall under the exemptions for movement to and from the Limassol and Paphos Districts, 5 cases were identified.
- Out of 177 samples taken in the Province of Larnaca in the context of control of employees who fall under the exemptions for movement to and from the Districts of Limassol and Paphos, 1 case was identified.
- From 48 samples taken under the control program of students, teachers and school staff, 3 cases were identified.
- From 2 samples taken under the immigrant structures control program, 2 cases were identified.
In addition, the following laboratory tests were performed without detecting a case:
- From samples taken in the Province of Famagusta in the context of control of workers who fall under the exemptions for movement to and from the Provinces of Limassol and Paphos, 24 laboratory diagnoses were completed, and
- From samples taken from the inhabitants of Kato Pyrgos Tillirias, 84 laboratory diagnoses were completed.
B. Rapid antigen detection test ( Antigen Rapid test ): Of the 7,614 tests, 4,401 were performed by the method of fast (rapid test antigen detection), with 114 positive results.
In addition, the positive result was verified by the molecular test method for 11 samples of positive results detected by the rapid antigen test method in the previous days. In addition, three positive results from rapid tests were not verified by the molecular method. Positive rapid antigen detection tests confirmed by PCR are included in the total number of cases below.
Therefore, based on the data so far, the total number of cases is 10,383.
