Announcement of the Ministry of Health regarding new cases of COVID-19 disease.
The Ministry of Health informs that, according to information received today by the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit from contracting laboratories, out of a total of 3,693 laboratory diagnoses, 224 new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified.
In detail, the current cases emerged as follows:
- Out of 729 samples taken through the process of tracking the contacts of already confirmed cases, 97 cases were identified.
- Out of 1,462 samples taken through private initiative, 80 cases were identified.
- Out of 286 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals, 19 cases were identified.
- Out of 825 samples taken as part of the passenger and repatriate control, 16 cases were identified.
- Out of 51 samples taken under the program of referrals by Personal Doctors and control of special groups through the Public Health Clinics, 7 cases were identified.
- Out of 159 samples taken under the control program of students, teachers and school staff, 1 case was identified.
- Out of 100 samples taken as part of the sampling carried out by the KOP in Associations participating in its events, 1 case was identified.
- Out of 81 samples taken under the immigrant structures control program, 3 cases were identified.
Therefore, based on the data so far, the total number of cases is 5,557.
In addition, the Famagusta General Hospital treats 54 people positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, five of whom are in the Intensive Care Unit. In addition, at the Nicosia General Hospital, six patients are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit, while another 10 people are being treated in a COVID-19 ward.
