Race season is just around the corner and anticipating that the weather will start to get cooler, West Coast Runners (WCR) are looking forward to commence training on a more regular basis. With this in mind the Tuesday evening runs have been re-instated into the September Schedule which is the well-liked Speed training, however, runners can do a run from the start point of their choosing? instead. We are lucky that around us we have so many runs to choose from, be it on road or off road through some lovely villages just outside Paphos. Our Sunday runs often include these scenic routes and more often or not finish with a coffee at a local café. So what about you? You will always find a warm welcome at West Coast Runners and West Coast Walkers, and we can help you achieve whatever your goals are for this year and beyond. If you would like to talk to someone, please contact Di on 97761015 or Gerry on 99926291. Alternatively, please see our Facebook page for our monthly schedule. We look forward to seeing you.
In the previous press release a report was included on the Kathikas Fun Walk/Run which took place on Sunday the 2 August and was enjoyed by everyone who participated. We are now delighted to include a photograph of WCR prior to the start, looking fit and well.
There are limited races taking place during the summer months, so there are no race reports in this edition. However there are plenty of races to look forward to in the coming months. Neil and Rita once again are continuing their quest of completing all five of the Cyprus Grand Prix 10k races; the 4th event took place in Limassol in late September (race report to be included in the next edition). Other members are also training for the following events including, Kyriakidea cross country 15k race, the Radison Blue Larnaka International Marathon races and others. We wish them all the best!
Social Events:
We are not just a running club, but we do like to get together for some form of social event once a month. In September we held our annual WCR relay and family beach picnic. For the first time ever the event was held on Riccos Beach with a new relay route around the surrounding area. The event was held after the submission of this current edition so details will be included in the next Press Release.
We are in the planning stage of WCR final social event of the year, the Christmas Lunch and Presentation to be held once again at Martikas Kitchen in late November. It is expected to be a fun festive afternoon to finish 2026 on.
West Coast Walkers
The walking group have done some great walks so far this year and you can see lots of brilliant photos on the West Coast Walkers Facebook page. They meet every Monday morning at 7.30am, with details posted weekly by Ruth. Everyone is welcome to come along. We are looking forward to reading about their Protaras exploits in the next edition.
Happy Running/Walking Everyone!
