Limassol has a Rugby Union side…? Yes
The LIMASSOL CRUSADERS RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB all began in late 2003 during a discussion fueled by the Rugby World Cup…..now with the Rugby World Cup 2015 starting this September and after celebrating more than a decade of Rugby in Limassol the Limassol Crusaders RFC are still on their Crusade to bring Rugby to the people of Limassol, and beyond.
Since their humble beginnings of training in the dark nights behind the goal at local soccer clubs and playing with borrowed kit and balls the Limassol Crusaders RFC have gone from strength to strength, playing in what has become an island wide league. The Limassol Crusaders RFC have in recent years proved to be a considerable force both against their Local rivals and Teams from the British Bases.
Limassol Crusaders highlights to date include:
- Several players being called up to International duty representing the Cyprus Rugby national team and now Captaining the side
- Hosting several touring teams from the UK, Holland and Palestine
- 2009 the 1st XV Crusade took them to Cairo and the Juniors toured to Athens.
- 2012 the 1st XV’s Crusade took them to Rome on a successful tour playing two of
- 2015 the 1st XV’s Crusade took them to Poland where they competed in the much acclaimed “Warsaw Rugby Festival” winning the appropriately named “Heineken Cup” (or Bowl) and being presented with the award for “Best Touring Side” of the Tournament.

The Limassol Crusaders RFC run rugby training sessions between Sept and April.
The Junior Crusaders is the fun local place for children to learn about rugby every Thursday during the rugby season (Sept-April).
Boys and girls can learn all the aspects of the game at our well-equipped grounds.
England Rugby (RFU) trained, the coaches stream the juniors into age appropriate groups and go through drills to teach them all the skills of the game – along with this they have the chance to play regular tournaments throughout the season.
