Cyprus Kicking Cancer Walking Football Team

This recently formed venture was recently involved in the Jeavons Family Fun day held at AM Fair Game Tremithousa on Saturday 8th of August. The team came a respectable 4th after winning a couple of matches. Well done to all players that attended. Monies raised on the day have gone to the Cancer Patients Support Group via Laurence Doughty from the Zingers and Pafos United Walking Football Club.

Many thanks to Darren and Debbie Jeavons for allowing the team to participate in this successful day. We also have exciting news of an additional sponsor alongside the Monara Sports Bar, in Lee from Ela Homes, thank you Lee.

We are inviting those that are living with cancer, in remission, or have survived a cancer diagnosis who either wish to participate in playing or refereeing, to attend our training sessions.

The current members in our team share something far more powerful than a love of football—they share life experiences. Every player understands the emotional and physical journey that comes with a cancer diagnosis because they have lived it or are living it themselves. That shared understanding creates an incredible bond, where no one has to explain how they feel, and everyone supports one another both on and off the pitch.

Our team provides a positive, welcoming environment where friendship, laughter, and football go hand in hand. Together, we want to inspire more men and women affected by cancer to discover the joy and benefits of walking football, proving that a diagnosis does not define us or stop us from doing the things we love. We believe our squad supports one another, and celebrates every achievement. We give hope, build confidence, and show others that there is still so much to look forward to.

At the time of writing this article, the Cyprus Football Association has expressed an interest in the Team.
